Emma Roberts shares first pic of her new baby

Emma Roberts has shared the first picture of her newborn baby boy and we can already tell he is a total cutie. Can we see anything other than his cheek in the picture? No, but all babies are total cuties.

On January 12, Roberts posted a picture of herself looking vibrant in all orange while holding her matching baby boy. Sporting a short dress, open toed heels and freshly painted nails, we are assuming the new mom changed back into sweatpants immediately after this picture was taken. Swaddled in an orange linen receiving blanket and staying warm and cozy with a cream-coloured beanie, the tiny bundle of joy looked snug in mom’s arms.

“Thank you 2020 for getting one thing right,” wrote Roberts, who shares her son with boyfriend Garrett Hedlund. “Our bright light Rhodes Robert Hedlund.”

Robert’s baby announcement has received an outpouring of love and support from her famous friends and fans. “Oh baby!! Congrats!!,” wrote Reese Witherspoon. “I love you em. Sooo happy for you,” added Ashley Benson. Fellow new mom-to-be Ashley Tisdale also celebrated the first official pic of baby Rhodes, writing “I just liked it twice!!! Congrats beautiful.” 

Models Helen Christensen and Lily Aldridge also left loving comments on Roberts’ post, as did her Scream Queen co-stars Taylor Lautner and Billie Lourd. In September, Lourd surprised fans by announcing that she and fiancé Austen Rydell welcomed their first son, Kingston Fisher Lourd Rydell. Post-pandemic play dates for Rhodes and Kingston? We think so.

Roberts and Hedlund have been lowkey about their relationship and the birth of their first child. The couple were first spotted together in March 2019 and were rumored to be expecting this past June when Roberts’ mother commented on her daughter’s pregnancy to fans on social media. Ugh, mom!

Roberts made the baby news official in August when she shared a picture of herself on Instagram cradling her baby bump and announcing that she was expecting a boy. “Me...and my two favorite guys,” wrote Roberts, who also included a rare picture of herself and Hedlund together in the post.

In November, Roberts appeared on the cover of Cosmopolitan and opened up to author and friend Stephanie Danler about her struggled to conceive. After years of painful periods that were marked by debilitating cramps, Roberts said she finally switched to a female doctor, who listened to her concerns. “It was the best decision. She ran tests, sent me to a specialist. Finally, there was validation that I wasn’t being dramatic,” said Roberts, who was in her late 20s by then. “But by then, it had affected my fertility. I was told, ‘You should probably freeze your eggs or look into other options.’”

Roberts said she eventually did freeze her eggs, calling it a “difficult process.” The Holidate actor added that finding a community of women who were also experiencing similar challenges helped her deal with the overwhelming emotions that come with fertility struggles.

“When I found out about my fertility, I was kind of stunned. It felt so permanent, and oddly, I felt like I had done something wrong,” Roberts told Danler. “But I started opening up to other women, and all of a sudden, there was a new world of conversation about endometriosis, infertility, miscarriages, fear of having kids. I was so grateful to find out I was not alone in this. I hadn’t done anything ‘wrong’ after all.”
