Want to feel old? Realizing that Macaulay Culkin is now four decades old ought to do it. That’s right, Home Alone’s Kevin McCallister is now 40, and fans everywhere are putting their hands to their faces and letting out a little scream to acknowledge the milestone.Okay, not quite, but even Culkin knows that people have some strong connections to him as a child actor—not only from his Kevin years but also from some of his other beloved flicks like Uncle Buck and My Girl. So he totally played that up on Twitter to celebrate his big day on August 26. “Hey guys, wanna feel old?” he asked. “I’m 40. You’re welcome.” Celebrity friends and fans alike instantly shared their well wishes and disbelief at the post, because as they say time really does fly. But others were also quick to point out that just because Culkin is now 40 doesn’t mean he hasn’t gifted the world the eternal memories of youth and laughter through his films.

Culkin’s girlfriend, actress Brenda Song (The Social Network), also shared a sweet tribute to her guy on Instagram alongside a snap of them in matching plaid. “Happy 40th birthday to this magical being. I could sit here and write endlessly about how wonderful, kind, loving, genuine, loyal, honest, brilliant and hilarious you are, and how grateful I am that I get to share and do this life thing with you,” she wrote.
Fans may cherish Culkin for his childhood roles, but the actor has been going through a bit of a resurgence (A Macaul-ai-ssance?) with his career lately. After poking fun at himself in a 2018 Super Bowl 2018 ad for Google Assistant, in which he reprised his (now-grown Home Alone character, he starred in Seth Green’s 2019 movie Changeland and also guest-starred in Kat Denning’s Hulu series Dollface. And Culkin has also landed a top-secret role in the upcoming season of Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story. And from the sounds of things, it could be a big game-changer."I have always loved Macaulay Culkin's work," Murphy told E! News on casting the former child star. "I loved everything that he's done, I love the stuff he did in Home Alone, I also loved the sort of the older, more recent stuff that he did. And he hasn't worked in a while. So, I have this very, very great, insane part. And I asked to speak to him on the phone and he said okay,” he added. “[When] I cast, I never let people read things, usually. I said, 'Okay, here's the pitch.' And I told them the character and I told him he has crazy, erotic sex with Kathy Bates and does other things. And he paused and he goes, 'This sounds like the role I was born to play.' So, he signed up right then and there.”Happy birthday Macaulay—here’s to 40 more.[video_embed id='2021860']BEFORE YOU GO: John David Washington on the 'natural chemistry' with Robert Pattinson in 'Tenet'[/video_embed]
