All we want is more Zendaya on the big screen, and it looks like 2021 is making all our dreams come true. The first trailer for Malcolm & Marie is finally here and features Zendaya and John David Washington in black-and-white.

Writer/Director Sam Levinson has teamed up with Zendaya and Washington to tell the story of a filmmaker Malcolm (Washington), and his girlfriend Marie (Zendaya), who return home after a celebratory movie premiere as he awaits his financial success. The evening turns from celebratory to critical as revelations about their relationships begin to surface, and the couple tests the strength of their love.

“You are by far the most excruciating, difficult, stubbornly obnoxious woman I’ve ever met in my entire life. I f—king love you,” Malcolm tells Marie as he walks into the room. “Oh, he’s so sensitive, he’s romantic. Bet he’s sweet, right? Well, I mean, yeah. When he’s not being an emotional f--king terrorist,” Marie says about Malcolm.

Zendaya’s Marie warns Malcolm that she’s “the last person standing” in his life and tells him to “hold onto me for dear life.” The couple’s relationship is tested in the trailer when they wonder if “there’s someone who loved them better.”

We sense an Oscars contender from the black-and-white vibes to the gorgeous gown Zendaya is wearing in this trailer and so do many people on Twitter.

Malcolm & Marie, set to be released on Feb. 5, marks another collaboration between Zendaya and Euphoria (stream now on Crave) creator Levinson. Zendaya and Washington are executive producers on the film alongside rapper Kid Cudi and Yariv Milchan. The film was one of the first films to be written and filmed all during the ongoing pandemic. Netflix bought the rights to Malcolm & Marie for $30 million after a promo was shown at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

Zendaya previously told OTHERtone podcast that Malcolm & Marie was "birthed within quarantine conversations Sam [Levinson] and I had in wanting to create something safely." She said that she really wanted to be creative and she hadn't worked in a long time. She missed what she loved doing so she agreed to star in the film.

Make some room in that trophy case, Zendaya! You're about to collect some more awards this year.
