Netflix has made a massive promise to its subscribers for the entire year of 2021. The streaming service released a teaser on Tuesday, previewing their upcoming movie releases and announced that new movies will be released every week through the end of 2021.

The teaser is packed with appearances from actors including Ryan Reynolds, Dwayne Johnson, Gal Gadot, Melissa McCarthy, Noah Centino, and more. Halle Berry and Lin-Manuel Miranda also make an appearance to announce their directorial debuts will be released on Netflix this year.

“What I love about movies is that they can make you feel every emotion,” Regina King says in the teaser.

“I love showing people what a superhero can look like,” Octavia Spencer adds. “I like making any movie where I get to throw stuff,” Melissa McCarthy says before sharing a glimpse at her superhero movie with Spencer, titled Thunder Force.

“I love that I’m finally directing my first movie,” Berry says about her film Bruised. Lin-Manuel Miranda echoed Berry’s statement before they jinxed each other. “Jinx, you owe me a Coke,” they say at the same time. “Oh my God, Halle Berry owes me a Coke,” Miranda says in shock.

“I love seeing an incredible story come to an end,” Kissing Booth star Joey King says. “Hey, that’s what I was going to say,” To All the Boys franchise star Lana Condor says, before Noah Centineo adds, “Woah, woah, woah! We’re not going to give away the ending now, are we?”

There we have it. Netflix has confirmed that The Kissing Booth and To All the Boys franchises will end this year with their third films, The Kissing Booth 3, and To All the Boys: Always and Forever, Lara Jean. Wow, the end of a teen rom-com era.

Netflix’s lineup consists of 70 titles across many genres, including rom-coms, animation, musicals, action and horror. There’s something for everyone to watch.

There are so many films to look out for including Red Notice, starring Reynolds, Johnson and Gal Gadot; The Harder They Fall starring Regina King, Jonathan Majors and Idris Elba; Sweet Girl starring Jason Momoa; The Woman in The Window starring Amy Adams; the star-studded film Don’t Look Up starring Jennifer Lawrence, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ariana Grande, Kid Cudi, Chris Evans, Meryl Streep and Timothee Chalamet; Miranda’s directorial debut Tick, Tick … Boom!; Berry’s BruisedMalcolm & Marie starring Zendaya and John David Washington and many more.

Netflix's 2021 film preview comes after WarnerMedia announced that it will release all of its 2021 Warner Bros. movies on the streaming service, HBO Max, on the same day that the movies are set to hit theatres. Warner Bros. previously announced that Wonder Woman 1984 would be simultaneously released in theatres and on HBO Max on Christmas day 2020. The list of other films that will follow suit throughout 2021 includes The Matrix 4, Dune, The Suicide Squad, In The Heights, Space Jam: A New Legacy, Godzilla vs. Kong, Mortal Kombat and the Sopranos prequel film The Many Saints of Newark. (Unfortunately for us in Canada, there’s been no confirmation if we will get the same special treatment as HBO Max users.)

At least streaming services are giving us some entertainment while theatres remain closed due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. Pop some popcorn, get cozy and get ready to stream new content every week.
